The Government of President Muhammadu Buhari in its fight to combat the existence of corruption for a better free Nigeria. Where the revenue of different commissions, agencies and ministries will help in providing standardize economy where unemployment will be mitigated and hunger will exist no more.
In respect to bringing down corrupt practices and seeing to Justification of those leaders in different high places of government who are involve in those act. The federal Government issued directive to the House of representatives and also a new set up of presidential panel to investigate different offices of government and bring to table, how the funds is used.
The house of representatives in line with government directives appointed committee to investigate the alleged Freud activities going on in the Niger Delta development commission (NDDC).
Godswill Akpabio, the minister of Niger Delta affairs was brought to panel where he was questioned of alleged Freud of billions of Naira.
He Defended himself with documents containing how the money was used in the commission while debunking the claim that he has signed contracts worth Billions of Naira in name of the commission.
In reply to Questions raised to him, he said that 60% of contracts in the NDDC where given to members of house of representatives and also some Senators.
He was ordered to provide the names of those people within 24 hours by the Speaker of house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, or face legal battle with the green chamber.
Akpabio in reply to the authority, allegedly presented a letter and a full list of Senators and lawmakers who is said to be part of people who gained 60% contract in the NDDC.
In his list, he accused the Chairman of the House Committee on NDDC, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, of inserting 19 contracts worth N9 billion into 2019 NDDC budget and also listed 3 Lawmakers.
He also mentioned; Senator Mathew Urhoghide, Senator James Manager and former Senator, Sam Anyanwu as the three included lawmakers that allegedly signed contracts in the NDDC.
In Respect to the law, Justification will be brought in accord with the presentation of names of Lawmakers purportedly mentioned in Akpabio’s list.
Those lawmakers that allegedly collected contracts from the NDDC will also face panel to answer and give account on how they manage money given to them for Emergency Repairs of Asue Street, Owa Phase 2; Emergency Repairs of ldumuogbe Road via Ojemaye; Emergency Repairs of Otolokpo College Road, Otolokpo; and Emergency Repairs of Police lshu Ani Ukwu Road, Issele Uku, Emergency Repairs of old Sapele Agbor Road, Obiaruku; Emergency Repairs of Ehwerhe Obada Road Agbarho Road; Emergency Repairs of Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe Street, Boji Boji Owa/Goodwill Street, Owa Alero; and Emergency Repairs of Ahiama Okwu to Obuocha Okwu and other road projects in Delta State.
They will be forced to give answers to allegation against them and they will answer to the core of how the money is used.
If any of them is guilty of corruption in the investigation, they will serve the law to the fullest.”
