Following the Billions Dollar Loans Nigerian Government obtained from China, Nigerian music mogul and Entrepreneur, Sosoberekon has said that Every Nigerian owes China N15,000.
On His Instagram, He wrote;
“HIDDEN CLAUSE FOUND IN CHINA’s LOAN MOU”
“Nigeria owes China N3 trillion.”
“Nigeria previously borrowed $3.1billion from China. ♥️Nigeria under Buhari borrowed $6billion from China under infrastructural development.”
“That does not include the $322million Nigeria borrowed from China 2018. This week Buhari & Rotimi Amaechi wants to borrow more $500million for railway nobody is talking.”
“There are approximately 198 million Nigerians. ♠️If you divide the amount with our population, every Nigerian, including you, owes China N15,000. ♥️So when next you see a Chinese, respect him or her. 🎲You owe them.😂😂😂😂😂🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃”.
However, An Independent Fact-Check has marked this Post as False/Misleading.
AFP Fact Check found a near-identical version of the claims published on Facebook in 2018 when President Buhari visited Beijing in China. The post was shared nearly 2,000 times.
Popular Nigerian celebrity manager Soso Soberekon published several claims about Nigeria’s debt on Instagram on July 29, 2020
The claims appear to be based on a misleading analysis piece published by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) on September 4, 2018. It alleged that every Nigerian owed China 15,000 naira ($40).
The report was picked up the next day by Nigerian daily newspaper Daily Trust. However, AFP Fact Check found that the ICIR piece makes a series of misleading or false assertions.
